My Journey

As I was going through a lot of things in life, I thought my career and what I wanted to do in life professionally were the same. While doing B.Com (Accounting and Finance) in college, made 2 to 3 projects based on WordPress and Google Blogger. Was excited to share those projects with everyone in the college and wanted to be acknowledged for it. These projects were very simple websites where we would write an article about the daily tech we use and other innovations in the current market. We were even able to present them to our class teacher which was very appreciated but after some time we closed them because of our, or to say, my procrastination or lack of focus on what I wanted to do.

I got admission for B.Com because in India (or maybe everywhere) the job applicant should at least have a bachelor’s degree. But later on, when I got the job, I learned that Accounting and Finance are not my cup of tea. And I learned this the hard way. Even in those jobs, I was focusing on the tech side of the corporate world. Giving colleagues the IT support they needed, finding some loopholes in the process to fix them or to improve the process and make it better and less time-consuming.

I did everything in Larsen and Toubro company where the TeamLease service provider deputed me. After some time, I officially transferred to a supporting role in IT, very remotely related to the IT sector, handling the portal where the Reimbursements are processed. Still, I was very happy that I was doing this work. I even tried to apply for the IT system admin role but did not have the qualification so got rejected. But when I got the offer from Wipro for a US payroll Associate, I did not think through my IT role INTEREST in my life and it got lost after that. Why? Life happened.

In Wipro, I spent more than 2 years and learned a lot of things, applied them and even got promoted to Analyst. but still, I felt something was missing from my life or something was wrong, something did not feel right. I did have questions about my career but never answered them so moved on with life.

I learned a lot of things in Wipro and even in the Amazon, and am still learning. The analysis role, not sure if this interests me but it does not make me feel the opposite of interest either, IYKYK. Learning business analytics with Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI and Tableau. I am still halfway there to be called a Business analyst. After reviewing all the descriptions and the role’s responsibilities, I felt, I have been doing this for the last 5 years and even in my current job. it’s just I didn’t use these visualisation and query tools before; only used MS Excel.

last May in 2023, got married and life is moving, I don’t know, slow or fast. But I can feel every moment of my life very vividly. My responsibilities have increased but my financial condition is still the same as it was 2, 3 years back; no financial plan and no backup but this time the EMIs are increasing. Yes, life happens but we also need to look back and control whatever we can to move forward without a burden. This is what I am getting from life.

Don’t take life seriously, Don’t take anyone seriously, Do not stop and cry for more than 5 min on any issue, keep moving forward. Keep going even if you’re going very slow, keep moving. Because life does not stop, time does not stop.

Let’s see how I can improve myself and how I can move forward.
